Default Virgin 50Mbps Broadband Trial in Ashford, Folkestone or Dover

Virgin Media is looking for people willing to test the 50Mbps downstream service in Ashford, Folkestone and Dover.

The trial service is priced at £47 per month - £10 more than Virgin Media's current 20Mbps top tier service - and comes with a 1.5Mbps upstream.

The trial will last until December 31 and participants will be provided with a new cable modem.

Primmo, can you clarify if this service is gonna be hit by the 3gig download limit ? or if they intend to remove all limits once this is mainstream rolled out ?

Agreed with the poster above... the network cant handle 20mb so 50.. jesus..

There has been talk about this for a while. The limit will still be there only it will be 10GB... its all rumors and guess work at the moment.

In theory the trialists would have unlimited downloads.... but they will only do these tests in low populated UBR's where opening the connection will actually make them look good !!

I deal a lot with the network now, in fact its my job... dont count on this becoming the standard any time soon... well ok maybe it will be in writting but the network wont support it.

10gb is a better limit, but it won't take long to reach that with a 50mb line i think it would take less than an hour with those speeds and you would hit the 10gig limit

5.12mb a second

307.2mb a minute

About 18 1/2 GB an hour.
