Default DSL router issues

So a few weeks ago my router/modem died and I replaced it with a Belkin G+ MIMO wireless jobby.

After some considerable pissing around I got it all working, everything sees everything else and all appears dandy.

My ****.

While I can access the 'net with all the machines on the system and all the XP PCs can transfer files happily, I can't see my web server (though I can ping it) through ie on any machine. Nor can I modify any files on any shared drives on the server, even through the LAN. It's running 2003 server.

So far I have made sure that the IP addresses are all as they used to be, cancelled and restarted (from scratch) network shares, put the server in the DMZ, taken it out of the DMZ again, turned the router firewall off, done everything I can think of.

Any suggestions before I throw the ******* thing out of the window?

Every Belkin router I have used has been utterly utterly ****e!

start a telnet session to the server on port 80,

then start > run > cmd and type netstat -an, has the connection been made to the server?

permissions on the shares correct?

try $ admin shares also on the server just to test

changed passwords on any accounts?

edited to add, don't put the server in the DMZ if you can help it, just open ports 80 or 443 TCP to the box, more secure that way, unless you are just doing it for testing purposes

Hi Mike,

OK, managed to get shares across the network back on by killing the old ones, copying the data into new directories and then sharing those directories with new share names.

What a ballache.

But I still can't get the web server working. I can ping the webserver, even by name, from other machines on the network and the IP address resolves perfectly happliy. But still I can't see the site...

PS I agree about the DMZ. Just did it to see if it worked. It didn't...

sorry but i can't comment of this problem, but I have just brought A Belkin Wireless adaptor, and I am thinking it too is s**t, or just maybe it can't link to Vista very well.

What windows are you using, if Vista too maybe you have a similar problem?

No, I'm on XP. Despite being a M$ professional, I'm not yet convinced about Vista as the way forward...

My system is now working properly from outside but I can't see my web server internally. I can access it through explorer but for some reason I can't through ie or an ftp tool.

Weird. But I can work around it.
