DVD Region X for PS2

Anyone know how it works - whether you install software on memory card or if you need to boot using the cd before you load the import dvd ??..
Thanks in advance.

Cheers for that, but even that didn't say how though.
Basically, I just need to know if I should buy my own copy or be a skiv and borrow someone else's for a one off install.

OK, I have Action Replay 2 V2 and this has an import movie player and from what I can see this is exactly the same as DVD Region X.
Here's how the AR2 thing works. You insert the Disc that came with it, it then boots and copies something to the memory card, yes you MUST have a memory card to use it. After that I think it is simply a case of, put in the Region X disc, let it boot, select the region you wish to use, then pop out the Region X disk, then put in the DVD and continue.
Bear in mind that if you make a copy of the region X disk (which you should not, cos it's naughty ) then the PS2 won't, by default play it, as it does not play backup copies, you'd have to have it chipped to do that, I think.

Worth considering the Neo 4 cos not only can you play backups but you can play multi region dvd's too and if my memory serves me correctly,it disables the built-in macrovision.Well worth the extra dosh in my own opinion.......
Scooby nutter can probably vouch for the same since he has one in his machine, don't you mate?
ME??? I'm patiently waiting for the Messiah chip!

Daz,
I can either get hold of a NEO4 or a Messiah chip.........but at a price. Email me off-line if you want more details.
PS. The Messiah is the better as it doesnt require a swap trick for loading a DVD-R (which is the future of media at the moment).
Cheers,
Shaun.

Shaun,
I need, THE REAL DEAL.
My reasons for going with a NEO4 are that I currently have a US PS2 and need region free DVD, so I can play European DVDs.
Unless you know another way of making a US PS2 region free DVD-wise?

Actually, its not often myh brain comes up with "new exciting opportunities like this" but is it possible to:
Fit a Messiah for ganes
Fit a Region Free solution for DVD movies
I know I may be talking complete bollock$ but anyone know if this is do-able ? Remember I have a US PS2, SCPH3001

I would say it is Daz! (However, don't quote me on it though )
Have a look at the PS2 forums here as they are VERY good for questions and answers.I could have sworn that I've seen people havin various chips and DVD region chips in their machines.
I was gonna suggest that to you earlier (HONEST ) but never got round to posting!
Have fun,
Nick..
