Question

I was thinking of getting the Sony 735 DVD player but wanted to confirm something before proceeding.

I know that the Sony 735 plays NTSC as pure NTSC so if I have a TV which accepts PAL60 does that mean that I can use the 2 of them together. The TV (A Hitachi 28" Pro-Logic unit) accepts inputs through SCART (from RGB) and from SVHS.

What is the best way to connect the DVD to the TV, if I intend to watch a fair few region 1 US DVDs?

I have heard that using PAL60 results in a degradation of the picture and the ack of picture control. Does using RGB out (from the DVD) to SVHS in improve the situation?

The TV doesn't have RGB in but it does have a SCART socket which it claims can be connected to the RGB out of a video source.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cool

Hooked up the 735 last night.
AWESOME picture quality.
I used the S-VHS lead and RL cables supplied directly into the front of the tv.
A Bugs Life - picture sharp and crisp.
Starship Troopers - as above.

AWD if you use Scart 1 this should play RGB.
You could also try Techtronics Helpline, its very er Helpful.
Personally, I think you should use S-VHS unless you have very good scart leads.

Bajie

I emailed you with a reply this morning (as I'd logged off at 4pm yesterday and didn't get your message until today).

BTW did you get the 3 free DVDs that came with the Sony?

I have had my 735 for about 5 months now. Awseome player. I am running a IXOS gold scart lead to my Tv's AV2 socket set as RGB. Fantastic picture quality as Bajie states!
