Problems with connecting to the Internet
I have just done a full system recovery on my home pc and installed all the software for my router but cant connect to the internet via the pc. I know the router is working because my xbox 360 connects and i can play online. I have checked the router settings and the pc is on the "trusted" list so it is allowed to connect. When i try to open the Internet Explorer i cant connect. Is there some updates i have to install before i can connect? the is NO firewall installed yet.
Thanks
Thanks

Most likey your Network card isn't installed.
Control pannal, system, Hardware, Device manager.
See if it has a yellow ? or ! next to it! if it has you need to find the drivers.
P.s Routers dont have software......

what i ment to say is that i have been able to access the router with the ip address that comes with it. ie 198.168.2.1. Do i have to install the drivers if the windows is saved on a partioned harddrive.
sorry if the grammer is incorrect

Try typing CMD in the run box and then
PING BBC.co.uk and see if you get any replies ! It could be IE messing you around.
the router is on the same subnet as the card... this proves connectivity but does not prove correct configuration.
Could you please post the results of the IPCONFIG /ALL ? I think it could be something as simple as the default gateway missing....

i cant do this untill friday as i work away from home. i ping tested yahoo.com and it sent and received the packets ok.
In which case you have everything set right except IE.
Quick thought: go to Internet Setting, Connections, LAN Settings and see if the Auto-detect proxy is ticked.. if so, untick it.

as Iain young suggests check the dns,
enter into ie > 212.58.224.131
or ping 212.58.224.131 from command prompt (Start > RUN > cmd [ENTER])
