Default Fancy a large TFT but....

...... there are so many to choose from. Can anybody recommend one from here. I'm not into gaming but just want a monitor which floats the net and is used for watching mpegs and photos. I'm not really sure which makes are the ones to go for hence my question. Ideally i want to spend a decent wedge less than £200 inc. vat

This would be my recommendation....

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/-/657/864...archtype=genre

I have one and it's stunning! Need to knock the brightness down a little, but otherwise it's superb quality. Not quite as good as my old NEC CRT, but not far off either. Great colours and great deep blacks.

There are plenty of reviews out there for the 22" version. This is basically the same only a little sharper as it has a smaller dot pitch.

Ideally don't get one with built-in speakers, make sure you select the write connection on the TFT that will match your graphic card (VGA or DVI). And get something with 3 years warranty and make sure it covers any dead pixles that my occur.

Samsung 226BW - similar to the one that DI6GER proposed but 22"... Great monitor. PC World for about £225

... current PC-Pro "A-List" recommendation, which is what I often buy by.

I wouldn't go for widescreen, as you migh have some problems with applictions/games that run on a full screen.

The only game i ever run is Championship Manager and more often than not, the only application i run is Photoshop. I thought - like the tv world, everything was gonna go widescreen eventually?

Why not have integrated speakers? I've got a nice 19" NEC with int. speakers, it's an excellent monitor.

My 22" Samsung 226BW widescreen is almost exactly the same picture HEIGHT as my normal size Iiyama 19" TFT.

Bear in mind that a 17" TFT will have a visible image size around the same size as a 19" CRT and you should notice a good improvement with a 22" widescreen.

Go for it - you won't look back.... and games / apps (Photoshop etc.) all cope very nicely with widescreen - and if they don't you simply set your PC to a 4:3 resolution (1024x768 or whatever) and the monitor blanks the outer edges of the image accordingly, all very simple indeed!
