Default Ethernet cable?

Can anyone help??

i want to run an ethernet cable from the router to the eldests bedroom so he/me can use live

do i need an untwisted pair cable, or an untwisted pair cable?


the spare patch lead from router to pc worked fine before if thats any help


and what is cat6? does it offer any benefits over cat5?

I assume that first question is supposed to say "twisted or untwisted"?



Cat5e twisted pair will be the best compromise between cost and utility. You don't need cat6.

Best would be cat6 twisted pair, but as I said, you simply don't need it - unless you are living in Buckingham Palace and need a 200m cable run. Stick with cat5e twisted pair.
