Running XP home and it seems to be going in a loop to try and install the same windows update, you let it install, which it says successful, then it prompts you again.

Also the images in an ebay search don't appear, though you can place your mouse over where they should be, same for IE and Firefox

Any ideas?

you need to tell us what update it is trying to install

common fixes are to install latest .net and mdac (dowloads form from the microsoft site ) components

Best thing would to restore the pc to a date when it worked ok.

i had an update that did this. Did a search for problems on google and got instructions on microoft website on how to resolve it. I had to delete and replace a small file.
