Avira seems to be the free one to go for
Download anti virus for Linux and Windows, anti spam, recovery software tools
Kaspersky or Nod would get my vote though

I posted this recently in another thread....
PC Pro have just done a full test of all the usual suspects. Makes very interesting reading. Some of the software tested performed shockingly bad.
Anyway, their recommendation....
Kasperky AV 7.0 (although it's not released until the 1st week of August) and it caught 98% of the virii in their test, compared to;
Norton 2007 - 68%!!!!
Panda 2007 - 60%!!!!!!!!
Zone Alarm - 82%
McAfee 2007 - 78%
F Secure 2007 - 93%
NOD32 - 77%
AVG - 83%
Avast - 70%!!
...and the surprise of the show was.....
Avira - 92% - not bad for free software. Their only complaint about Avira was the advertising it pops up asking you to buy the full version every now and then.

I have been using avast now for about 18months and have found it brilliant! The only virus I have got in that time was when I had turn all anti-spyware and anti-virus off for a short period (can't remeber why, some install / uninstall or something or other).
As soon as fired Avast back up it picked the virus up, put the machine into a safe mode and sorted it all out. Had no problems since. Would happily recommend it
