After helping out somebody who was in a tight spot, they gave me a Genuine retail version of Vista Ultimate as a thank you...:great!
Problem is the PC I Ideally want it installed on already has Vista Business.
I do have another lesser PC currently on XP which would be a prime candidate for putting Vista on.
So what I want to do is put Vista Business on that, and put Ultimate on the PC thats current running Vista Business (still following me?
)
Problem is the validation for the vista business will probably be rejected because the PC is a different to the one its currently installed on. Is there a way round this?
I mean there is nothing dodgy about it; I have 2 PCs and 2 legit copies of Vista, just I want to swap the one Vista Business install to another PC so I can use (unused) Vista Ultimate on the better PC. Surely I'm allowed to do that, aren't I?

Cheers, I suppose I'll just have to try it, If I end up with having to speak with a human on the phone I can just say I upgraded the system or replaced some dead parts that were fried from a duff PSU (like M/board, CPU, HD
).
Only ever had to do that once with XP when a new HD died with an OEM install on it.

Just call em up and it should be fine. I installed Vista a week ago then it died for some reason when I started overclocking. Now I got a stable system (under XP) I reinstalled and it said my key was in use. Called the 0800 number and within 1 min was activated / registered. Chap didnt even ask what had happened. As long as they dont see 2 systems using the same key I think your ok.
