Annoyed with Ultra-bright LEDs?

Annoyed with Ultra-bright LEDs?
What is the trend for these on Power/HDD indicator LEDs nothing more annoying that something bright glinting in the corner of one's eye - especially in a darkened room.....remeniscent of the days at school when a classmate would dazzle you with thier watch by using it to reflect sunlight.
Why can't they use normal LEDs?
Well the solution:
One CD marker (black or the same colour of the annoying LED). And dab some ink on the LED....
Darkens the LED enough so that is no longer annoying, but can still be seen

Most annoying one of recent was the LED on my new monitor, bright dazzling blue, right at the bottom corner.....wasn't long before it got blotted out with the marker pen.
