its gets a bit funny when its widescreen (20.1" to me means its 20.1" corner to corner)

Yeah it's fine. although I've turned the brightness down a fair bit. I should get an eye test but I found on full it was straining my eyes. Now though it's been fine. widescreen is good because you can have all your buttons on the side and still have at least the same working area I used to have before.
Quick rough measurement and this one is a 24".

Dual monitors can be quite a good setup. If you have a decent graphics card with dual output, then 2 x 19" monitors may be cheaper than a widescreen 23". Worth considering.

There's barely any difference between it and 2007 from what I can tell. Running both here, and prefer 2007 as it runs a bit quicker in my eyes.

the new features are a bit feeble this time around, one or two are interesting but will barely be used.
Only ever worth upgrading when a new file type is introduced IMHO. Going on a course soon showing how Autodesk Map 3D links in with ArcGIS soon which should be interesting, we've had some decent results just messing about with them in the office so far...

I'm looking for this size of monitor myself... This 22" CiBox seems good value 1680x1050 res, HDCP compatible and under £180 - the boss can't complain about that surely
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK
Good luck

Careful of all these cheap 1680x1050 monitors appearing atm, resolution is not supported by many graphics cards so a bit of tweaking is needed to get them displaying right.
We have dual 20.1" iiyama tfts at work, highly recommended rather than a single larger screen.

Ooohh... No-one mentioned that before
My NVIDIA 6600GT card will do 1600 x 1024 from the setup screen - will that be close enough - or will it adapt once i get the new monitor plugged in? EEK

Used both ArcGIS and Autodesk map at my last place of work. (Was actually using Civil3D but Map is a part of that. They tie in pretty well, especially if you use a lot of things like LIDAR information.
Don't suppose you are looking for people with experience of both are you? (trying to get out of my current place because it's a bit backwards!!).
