Windows 2000 Server rejoin New Domain
Hello
Please could someone advise the best (safest) way of removing a Windows 2000 server from an existing SBS 2000 domain environment and re-joining to (same domain name) an SBS 2003 server. I am upgrading from SBS 2000 to SBS 2003 (new hardware) and one of the file servers needs to join the domain on the new SBS 2003.
Thanks in advance for any help and assistance.

I would have thought just remove it from the domain and add it to a workgroup as you would normally do, then re-add it to the new domain.
Right-click My Computer, select Properties, Computer Name tab etc.

Thanks KiwiGTI
Tried that but I cannot log back into the server with the original admin account.
I have definitely used the same process for workstations without any issues but this Windows 2000 Server will not allow me back in. Luckily I am still working in a test environment so can restore another image of the original build/domain and try again.
I am wondering whether to create an admin local account before I disjoin so I can then use this account to login to the server and rejoin to the new domain.
Any further thoughts would be very gratefully received.
Thanks

Is it a DC?
If so run DCPromo to demote it to a member server then disjoin from the domain and re-add to the new domain.
Are you upgrading the domain from SBS2000 to SBS2003 or recreating the domain completely?
Paul..
