Using Nero StartSmart to burn off videos,i click on 'Make your own DVD-video' comes up with the screen to start adding files, so i start to add the files i want to burn it then freezes and shrinks back to the taskbar, or goes back to StartSmart option screen i click on the dvd video option and it says the application is already running.

Also having same problem with Honestech easy video editor (the inability to add files to join or split).

System is XP sp2
AMD64 3500+
448mb ram (have intergrated graphics card)

Although the memory is low i've never had this problem before.

Any ideas cheers.

Right uninstalled it ,no problems there, then the Search Companion failed to work gives the error message

'A file that is required to run Search Companion cannot be found.You may need to run setup'

Reinstalled Nero Smart Start and NeroExpressVision 2 (but not the media player) nero still doesn't work properly but the Search function does.

WTF is going wrong (windows is an ahem copy)

what version nero 6 is it? you might need to update it?

Fair point but i don't understand why it's fecking up Search companion

Nero SmartStart version is 6,3,0,0
NeroVision Express version is 2,1,0,3

are you using search on windows? or nero? if your nero search works type in your problem and see if it helps also what file type you trying to burn?

Search companion on Windows
The files are wmv,mpegs (nothing weird)the main thing is when adding them to nero it takes a bit of time but then for no reason shrinks back to the taskbar wiping out what i've added.
I did get it to start burning last night then it just froze did **** all for 3 hours so i just aborted it.

try doing a search on the nero startsmart if not go to make a dvd then add files when the box opens there is a bar underneath that says "all supported files" drop it down and scroll to the bottom it says "all files" click this and then try to add files if this dosent work let me know and ile try something else

open nero startsmart open manuals and click anyone of the icons with a ? then at the top of the box that opens click search and away you go

Cheers for your help buddy but even after the download it adds the files quickly but still shrinks to the taskbar wiping out everything i put in.
Could it be a windows update thats messed it up?

could be poss if you have a (ahem) version of windows you should have windows update turned off when you unistalled nero did you do it properley? i.e start/control panel/add /remove programs?

Did it the proper way but know i've found that some other programs cannot be uninstalled so i think it's a bigger problem (possibly with the Windows updates) so instead of messing around i'm going to transfer all i need from the hard drive to an external one and reinstall XP.
