Xbox 360 or PS3

Xbox 360 or PS3
I'm looking to buy a new gaming machine as at present I only have a PS2 but I can't decide between the Xbox 360 or the PS3. I only a 30" Sony LCD TV which isn't HD ready so I'm concerned I'll be disappointed with the quality. Is there any difference between the quality on an Xbox 360 as against a PS3 on a normal LCD TV? I am learning towards the Xbox due to the fact it has a good racing game in Forza2.

The graphics will still look ok. But make the jump to HD and it's obviously much better. There'll be very little difference in quality between 360 and PS3 graphics as they'll be displayed at the same resolution (480p)
If you want to buy a machine right now then buy the 360 as it has loads of good games on it. It won't be too long though before the PS3 starts catching up. If price comes into it then the 360 wins hands down - you can buy packages with four games and an extra controller for £300.
Why not try them both out?

360 all the way.
I was undecided, and waited for the PS3 to come out, and its poop in comparison.
I dont know which is better tech wise, as that sort of stuff dont bother me, but for ease of use, number of quality games etc, the 360 wins hands down.
Plus xbox live is easy to use, and you get to listen to whiney voiced yanks all day long!

I asked the same question on here a few months back too as I really couldn`t decide, after having a PS2 since launch I figured the way forward would be a PS3 and also waited for its launch but wasn`t convinced.
But following advice from S/Netters I went for the Xbox 360.
Best thing I did, it`s great

My brothers got the ps3 and i have the 360, we play them both on hd tv's, and he's gutted, the games on the 360 look so much better especially GOW, or Forza 2, He wont swap to the 360 though because of the blu ray player in the ps3 (hence the price difference in both consoles). Hes a big film buff. But for me mate for gameing its the 360 all the way.

Its funny as I have the PS3 with one game only
I got it for the Bluray player not the gaming ability...........
I got resistance fall of man game with the PS3 and the controls are klunky and slow, but then I dont see a significant difference in quality with the xbox - if you just want for games then its fairly clear that you would go with the xbox360 as its half the price including games packages
I've played on the xbox 360 - you can hear the fans and the machines tend to have a high fail rate - a friend has changed his twice now under warranty
But it wouldnt alter my conclusion that the ps3 is overpriced for games - but games ability was simply an 'add on extra for me'

Well hopefully the current batch of 360s being manufactured would of addressed these issues.

Bought an xbox 360 couple days ago after always being a playstation person since day one.
Highly impressed with it , Its a really nice bit of kit!
MUCH better value for money and also MUCH more games available for it .
That and the super high price of the PS3 swayed it for me .

Was adamant i was getting a PS3, following the PS1&2..
Ive only ever seen 2 games demoed on it and played one, and it wasn't that good..
I didn't want an all in media centre / experience, i have separates that are well capable of that.
I saw what was on offer from the Xbox360, the choice of games, back catalouge etc, and went down that route.
Ok it has a few minor niggles, fan noise, and some games only run in 60HZ not full screen, but on the whole i,m well impressed.
