Default Playing films on PSP

Ok,
I've already posted one PSP thread but now i have another question.

I've been trying to play films on my PSP, official films for the PSP bought from a computer shop,
However of the 3 I bought, only 1 works, the other two say region not compatable
All three films are region 2 so that doesn't seem to be the issue, anyone else had similar problems?

Is it definately a UK PSP? Try putting the newest firmware on and see if that does anything to help.

Only got 2 films for mine and never had any problems.

Not had that problem. But I have only used a UMD film only once. And games don't have regions anyway.
If you have a custom firmware, I believe 3.40 oe-a is the latest, then you can set your PSP to be region free. But if you're not into all that firware changing, then its no help.

Yes they do. When I was over in Canada back in October. I was contemplating buying Star Wars Lego II for my UK PSP. The Games over there have a Region 1 symbol on them. And was advised by the Canadian shop assistant that their games are region1/NTSC PSP compatible only.

No, they don't. Although the game box says "region 1" on it, it simply gives an idication as to what region the game is from - The PSP itself is completely region free for games. There is no such thing as NTSC/PAL with portable gaming because the screen is built in, so no colour scheme /refresh rate differences y'see.

It's a different story for UMD movies. Region coding is entirely at the discretion of the publisher, which is why some UMD films will work and some won't. With films, it is always best to stick to the region the PSP came from to be on the safe side. (or do the right thing and never by a UMD movie at all and just rip the DVD to the memeory stick)

Simple mate, take it to your nearest computer show and get it flashed.Should be about £20. Mine plays any film and any game all you do is convert any film you have on dvd on your pc and hey presto.

If youv'e updated to more than 3.03 Sony firmware, then you can't use the custom firmware yet.
Anything at 3.03 and below can be hacked.
There is plenty of PSP users on here running custom FW, so if you get stuck, just give us a shout.

When I checked a few days ago, there wasn't anything official yet. I heard that they just found an exploit in Lumines, but haven't put it to use yet.
Good find.

I've bought a copy of Lumines on Ebay paid £24.00 inc postage,
couldn't find it in any shops, either brand new or pre-owned,
waiting for it to arrive for the downloading to begin

How do I actually rip dvd's to the memory stick, do I need to download a specialist program first?
