Xbox 360 wireless racing wheel
right, about to buy forza 2 and wheel package from gameplay, can someone give me some objective feedback ('scuse the pun) on its quality / function etc?
I have the DFPro which inevitably MS will not support with drivers, but it pains me to have 2 wheels, and I have read VERY mixed user reviews on the MS wheel.
So...who has one? Who has tried it on Forza 2? Anyone tried setting times on both pad and wheel to compare?
Thanks
Ed

Find pad faster and easier to use, but learning to get used to the MS wheel and pedals(if that make sense).
But hey, I like to play 1st Person Shooters with a mouse and a keyboard !!

I used the wheel on the demo. The force feedback and the info you get from it is first class. I find the wheel and pedals the fastest combo for me. (fastest snet demo time in all classes )

My DFP is going up for sale because I just don't use it.
I'm not playing anything on PC either so I'm aswell punting it whilst I have the chance.

I ordered last week the wheel bundle from gameplay even though I haven't tried the wheel out yet. fingers crossed the wheel combo will be good, otherwise I'm blaming RB5 for rating it too high

I don't think you'll be disapointed. Feeling the understeer start mid corner was something I've never noticed when playing GT4 on the DFP. Granted it's not the 900° steering of the DFP and feels a bit more like a Go-Kart but in my case I can produce faster laptimes with the wheel than I can with sticks. I put all this down to feeling the drip go on the frontend rather than hearing it.

So it goes all light when you start sliding like the DFPro?
I'm resigned to having to get it anyway, just trying to feel like I'm doing it it for the right reasons

dont think i am as fast with the wheel as i would be with a pad but over time dont think it will be an issue as for fun factor the wheel kicks ***.. it was well worth £70 just 2 see my GF try and drive with it as she would have never got how to use a pad (note to self never let her have hte scooby keys)

yup
The force feedback goes light when the front end starts to slide. Best Force feedback I've used to date (console only mind you)
It's the first game I've played where using the wheel from day one just felt right GT4 never got there in my opinion.

Reading the Forza forums, there seems to be an issue with using the wheel to control the in game features (paint shop, photo mode etc) in that you can't have a pad connected at the same time so you have to unplug the wheel, power up the pad, use it, unplug (remove the batteries) pad, reconnect the wheel etc.
I'm sure it will get fixed with a patch but for warned etc
I can't justify having 2 wheels (have the Momo Racing already) so going to stick with a pad for now.

Believe it or not, I've also decided to hold off. I wasn't too impressed with the game demo and there is no reason for MS to hold off support for the DFPro other than wanting to drive sales of their own hardware, so I say screw em. I'll buy the game, but I'll stick with the pad at least until I decide whether I am going to invest any serious hours to the game.

I thought you got all your games free Ed?
I'm sticking to the joypad. It looks to be a great game, and I'm sure the wheel adds to the experience, but I've nowhere to attach it to in front of my plsama, and don't really want to have to buy another wheel when the dfp still works fine on my pc...

Got a wheel and playseat too, never used a wheel on any console or PC and find it great. Taken me about a week to "just" be able to beat my best times with the pad on PGR3 but it's loads more fun Colin McRae Dirt is great with it too, feel all the bumps on the hill climb...
Does need clamping to something decent though, tried it on lap/table but not as enjoyable.

Thats the same frame (slightly different seat) as I have, its great and had been wondering if the Microsoft wheel would clamp down ok on the plate but seems it does from your pic?

I just used the supplied velco (supplied with the playseat) holding it very steady, both the the wheel and pedals. Was planning to find another way to attach them but this is fine as long as the velcro lasts. It wont take the original MS clamp though as the tube is in the way.

I have a fantastic seat and frame setup from the guys at Simbin which they use for their get real race centres at the circuits they tour GTR with. Custom made, real race bucket, missus is having none of it in the house

Same setup for me even the colour of the seat is the same
I have to sit the chair slightly off the the left of this picture to avoid the projector beam. I'll post photos of the whole setup later once the fog at work lets me go home
Edit to say the clamp on the MS wheel works fine with the playseat above .... will post pics if anyone wants ?

Like to see a pic of the clamp in situ, was told it wouldn't (so never tried it) but the playseat clamp thingy would.
