Default WEB hosting... who's any good?

Anyone know of a decent reliable web hosting company?

I don't wanna transfer anything, neither do I want to register my domain name. Funnily enough I've already registered it with another company and don't want to move it?

Maybe I've not looked hard enough. But I don't seem to be able to find anyone thats willing to simply sell me some bloody web space!

Thought I'd post on here since you lot are a wealth of knowledge!

Chris

Not the cheapest but you may find flexible enough and are recommended all the time on here is Titan. Welcome to Titan Internet

Run by someone who was on here, not sure he is anymore...

The problem you will find is that the mass virtual resellers systems may not cope with allowing you to add a virtual host to a site (some space) without a domain name. Titan sound small and should be able to as they have humans (I think ) rather than a plesk interface.

Another option is to look here : UK Web Hosting - UK.webhostdir.com is the best free source of UK Web Host Services featuring more UK Web Hosts than any other UK Hosting Directory

I wouldn't touch Amenworld with a bargepole...if I wasn't already stuck with them for a lot of domains. Their customer support is rubbish. They also cost us quite a bit of money by resetting the DNS records for a couple of our high profile domains and took our e-mail offline for a few days when they introduced their spam-filtering/anti-virus mail protection by altering the mail records to add their mailservers as higher preference without our permission and then deciding everything was spam

1&1 Internet Ltd., click Hosting and the Beginner package is one and a half quid a month for 250MB of space.

They do domain transfers, so you can move your existing domain to them, or choose the next package up for a couple of quid more (and 1.5GB space) then get your current domain provider to forward to the new domain.

Steer well clear of these cowboys - almost impossible to cancel an account, I had to just cancel the credit card. Then I get a debt collection agency coming after me me £20 + their costs.

Send me a pm with your requirements mate, I think I can sort you out some web space on a fast dedicated server (I have several).

has anyone used this company before and have any opinions on them?

Welcome to Red Fox Hosting - Affordable and Reliable UK Hosting Solutions

Their shared hosting package is ideal for what i need (.net, MySql or MSSQL, >250Mb space ) and they have a few nice components ready to use that i already use in work so wouldnt have to write any new code

Woah, some interesting replies there. Thanks guys!!

I'm going to have a look through the options. Initially maxiehost seems the easiest to use.

The site I want hosting is very simple and small so I dont need anything that makes your coffee in the morning

Have put a couple of important sites with NetHosted Ltd and been here for a couple of years.

A small outfit, run by a very dedicated knowledgable guy. He has always cheerfully responded to my queries with a few minutes even if it is 11pm on a Saturday lol. You will struggle to find a bad word said about this host.

Not tried it my self so dont know how reliable it is but i saw this on anothwer forum so i thought id share.

Basically this company are celebrating their 1 year birthday by offering all of their webhosting packages for £1/year. One thing I would say is make sure you cancel the package a month before your year's up, or they bill you for another year and I guess that's the way they're going to make their money.
The top package offers the following:

* 10 free domains
(co.uk., .eu, .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz)
* NEW: Free Adobe® Software
* 20 GB web space/100 GB traffic
* 5,000 E-mail accounts
(1 GB per account)
* STRATO Communicator (webmail)
* STARTO Website builder
* AntiSpam & AntiVirus included
* STRATO ProBlog
* PHP, Perl, CGI, Python, Ruby, Cron-Jobs
* 18 MySQL databases and BackupControl
* Secure Shell

The website is:
STRATO

*UPDATE*
Here's another good little deal if for some reason you require more than 20gb space and 100 gb bandwidth:

Netfirms, Free Web Hosting, Domain Names for Small Business
About £5 for the year
