Question Uploading photo slides

My father in law has hundreds of photo slides he's taken connected with his passion for military aircraft. Ideally he'd like to get these onto a dvd format so he could then play them on his TV.

With my basic understanding of PC's etc is the best way to do this:
scan the slides into his PC and then once they're all loaded burn them onto DVD.
If so what will happen re size ie the slides are small will there be a way to increase them without losing too much definition.

Is there any sort of software available out there that would make easy work of this for him?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you scan the slides (35mm I assume) using a slide scanner, the images will still be a good size just like a normal scanned image or digital camera image, you'll still get good definition assuming the source is good.

How do you intend to scan them ?

No it's not, but the link really helped
It's led me to a 35mm Slide and film negative or neg Scanning to DVD CD or Photo Prints which could be the simpler solution to the problem with a better end result.

Marvellous, thanks very much
