Default Macromedia Flash

Can anyone tell me how to edit a SWF & FLA file ?

I decided now that I've got a bit of time ,that I'd try build myself a small personal website (background, CV etc) so I bought a very nice flash template off the web, which just needs the text & images editing to suit my own needs. not too hard I thought . I opened the FLA file with Flash and the opened the library to find the file I needed to edit, but everytime I edit the text and play back the file, the text has totally dissapeared, not the origional or the edited text shows up, but its still there if I go back to the library. I hope this makes sense to anyone who uses this software. could it be I'm doing the publishing settings wrong, or is it something else?

Any help greatly appreciated

Cheers

Phil

Press CTRL-Enter to test your movie before publishing, see if the text is there.

Make sure you are editing the text symbol as well, and not an instance of it.

tried everything I can think of. I tested the movie as you said, but after changeing the text it just dissapeared from the movie. Think I'll find someone who does this sort of thing and get a price off them.

Any idea what I should be looking at paying ? I have the complete template, its just a matter of changeing the images & text and loseing a few of the buttons

cheers

Flash is very different from what you're used to.

Sounds like your text is displayed on a "frame" and you're letting the frame pointer move beyond it to another frame with no text in it (causing the text to disappear)

Essentially, you need to stay on that frame with the text on it.
