Low end gaming machine for son?
All his friends are into WoW and it runs like a dog on his Dell 1100. No graphics slot to upgrade unfortunately. I think I'll shift this one wifey's study, and buy something a bit better for him.
Which companies should I be thinking of? Don't want to spend more than 400 or so.

I would think something like the following might do for £400
Dual core 4600 athlon - £65
PCI-E M/board AM2 - £35
ATI radeon X1950 Pro - £99
Case and PSU - £80
1GB Ram - £65
320gb HDD - £42
18x DVD-RW £16

I was running WoW perfectly OK on my old machine P4 3.GHhz, 1GB RAM and I probably couldn't sell it for £50 these days.
Might be worth buying an old machine off a gamer that's upgraded.

Thanks chaps. I think I'll go down the self build route again. Was hoping to avoid it but it seems worthwhile. Wish I'd bought him one with an AGP/PCI-express slot in the first place!
