Default Windows Indexing Service?

Quicky question...

When you enable the WIndows Indexing Service (under XP), where abouts does it place the actual Index file (or files). Presumably they are hidden system files, but where are they?

dont know, I always turn it off, and remove the indexing service from add remove programs too
