Question Excel geeks

I have quite a few spreadsheets with macros written in the days of Excel 4 (I think) when macros were a column of commands within the spreadsheet, something like a BASIC program.

These still work perfectly with the latest Excel versions.

The trouble is that every time I open such a spreadsheet i get a question about whether i want to enable the macro which might be dangerous I can proceed on a onetime only basis. Next time I open the sheet I get the same question again. I would like to suppress this query so that the sheet opens straight away.

Q. Can I instruct Excel to accept macros in certain spreadsheets as safe, since i wrote them? Can I 'sign' macros myself to make Excel accept them as bona fide?

I know I can turn down macro security to low, and that will let anything run, is that OK since I have AV etc. running.

Any advice gratefully received.

Speedking,

My main question would be... do you receive many (if any) excel files from outside sources that could potentially be dangerous?

Personally I would just turn down the macro security because there isn't a method by which I know that you can sign specific macros / spreadsheets as safe - but then I'm not a guru
