GTA: WOw this is amazing
GTA2 - Hmm not quite as good but its ok
GTA3: Yay! It's amazing again
GTA:VC: Wow this is utterly fantastic
GTA:SA: Uh.. I have to eat regularly? I have to exercise? I don't need a life simulator.
I just hope they go back to basics a bit with it, and sort out the sodding aiming.

Special indeed
The detail in the buildings, the church and the rollercoaster looks rather fruity
Looks like some kind of weather system and loads of pedestrians to mow down, sorry interact with

Same here for the same reason, all the radio stations were great. I remember seeing the Vice City CD box set with all the tracks on it - http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/1095...t/Product.html

That GTA IV trailer looks stunning. Its the first title that makes want to go out and buy a PS3 or XBox360 (and the HD flatscreen to go with it)
Can't wait to get into that sandbox and give it a go. I wonder how it compares with the Crackdown environment?
The dynamic lighting and water look wonderful.

I wonder if the actual game will look like that? The trailer all looked pre-rendered / staged to me. There was certainly no "in-game" footage shown...

If you take your cues from the Crytek engine, you could pretty much imagine things to look that good on next-gen hardware (albeit lower-res) The Rockstar guys are on top of their game and have the talent to produce something like that. I remember playing Liberty City for the first time (2001) and thinking the environment was phenominal for the time.
I know what you mean though - Polyphony and Codemasters are notorious for ripping-off the public with their pre-release images and video all shot in a faux high resolution.
Of course this new trailer isn't as good as the Nintendo version of GTA

It's slated for release this October, so I imagine the engine will be feature complete by now.

Confirmation comes from a Rockstar representative who told Gamespot: "We can confirm that all footage in the trailer was captured directly from 720p gameplay running real time in our Rage engine on a next-gen gaming console."
