Default Mac dictionary?

Is it possible to get a Mac to stop speaking American and start speaking English.

I have not found a UK English dictionary and it makes proof reading much harder when loads of words are highlighted and spelt correctly.

Cheers,

R

What application? It's probable the application has an option to specify the dictionary file to use.

If it's in Mail (and probably other Apple apps) try choosing Edit > Spelling then on the Dictionary drop down choose 'British English'.

Ahhhh - thanks - I was trying to do a global language set as lots of apps seem to have this problem.

I have just discovered that you need to 'add' languages to the list and the default 'English' is in fact Amerenglish and that British English has to be added to the list.

Done now and everything is a little better
