Hard drive problem....
H/D not recognised......
Right, I've got a problem with my 'old' computer
I'm trying to get my old computer up and running to use as a music server etc however, cannot for the life of me, get it to recognise the h/drive. Ok, the machine consists of a AMD 3000 XP, Asus KV8 m/board, 1 Gig RAM, CD Burner, Geforce 7800 GS and Western Digital WD 250 IDE h/d. The H/D already has XP loaded as it was used in a similar setup but on a different board. (This shouldn't affect it showing)
Regardless, when I connect it up, the KV8 does not see it. I've tried the H/D as a slave in my 'good' system and it appears straight away. I've checked the IDE slots on the M/B and they are fine, showing the CD Burner on both channels.
I've juggled the jumper settings on the back - no joy
I've checked the BIOS, reset the BIOS and even cleared the CMOS - nothing.
Anyone have any ideas?
