Post Anyone pre-ordered a PS3?

just wondering, as I seem to be getting bombarded with emails trying to tempt me into pre-ordering, which would suggest not many people are tempted with the PS3 as yet, which is the exact opposite to the launch of the Wii and 360

Personally I won't be buying a PS3 - can't justify the £££

I will be getting one. I'm just waiting for some decent software to be released for it first. Unfortunately, (or fortunately for my wallet) there's been nothing announced for this year that looks interesting so far...

As above I won't be buying one until there are some decent titles which I can't get on the 360. Looking like being quite some time.

Nope no plans at all even with my collection of PS2 titles, its all getting lame we'll end up with Gran Turismo 108, its like Gran Tursimo 1 with more cars and higher res. graphics...sorry same old same old.

The wii is still fun although need some more new titles and for the out and out gaming experience I will probably do something I never thought I would, by an M$ console, the 360 represents good value for money.

I'll probably get one when they are on the shelves in shops and you can pick up a number of titles second hand. Currently planning, well, sort of, to pick up the new 360 when it's out, and a copy of Forza 2 (and then download Sensi Soccer ). Other than that, there's nothing on the 360 to tempt me to buy one yet. Will be the same with the PS3, and probably with a Final Fantasy game.

Will be interesting to see how they sell and general quality reports when they hit the street.

Agree with Gary on his Wii comments. I've only been swayed to buy Zelda, which is now finished, and now gets used infrequently. Then again, FF-XII is eating up all my time at the moment

Don't forget God Of War 2 at the end of the month either Damn, just checked and it's slipped to mid April now. Partly good news as that should be after the latest release of our software so I might get more home time

I have one ordered.

Paying a little less than the RRP, which makes it easier on the wallet, plus I don't have a 360.

I agree that there is not the 'buzz' around this release as with other consoles and the games line-up on release is, at best, average.

I was tempted up until the news that the ps2 chip was going to be missing so ps2 compatability is unknown and minimal at best (until software changes).

I think alot of people have now been put of by this and the fact we only get the most expensive version - Sony are taking the p£ss I think and will suffer.

All the stores are still offering pre-orders, when has that ever happened before with a week to go to release ???

I keep being tempted....

but I'm not a massive gamer - the blu-ray would be more important to me. Also, I think Sony are taking the **** out of Europe. Add that to the format wars and Sony general format record.....

I'm getting a Wii

I already have a Jap one, hardly gets played as there is sod all good on it yet.. Just stick with a 360 or something..

For the amount you pay for a uk one, you can import one with games.. or even get a 2nd hand job if you know where to look ..

Not even remotely close to ordering one, as above, the news that the imported version are better has nailed the coffin for me.

I also keep getting e-mailed by the "game" store saying il be guaranteed one for launch day, i don't think many people will be bother and I'm also quite sure they will be available off the shelf on launch day.

Il stick to my 360 until the prices drop.

I'm getting one (not long to wait now).

It is a rip off and Europe have been treated shabbily by Sony but it doesn't really bother me.

I will get a decent paypacket in March that will cover the cost no problem so it was an easy decision to get one.

I hope there are PS3's sitting on the shelf on launch day

a) Will hopefully teach Sony not to screw us over
b) Screw over all those people who brought the console to make a profit on ebay

Either T3 or Stuff reported that the blu-Ray was better than any of the stand alone machines currently available, bonus for anyone buying it now, still cheaper than any Blu Ray available in the UK AFAIK.

Another waiter here, far too steep this time around

I had one pre-oredered, cancelled it though as I was planning to cash in on eBay and it's clear that there'll be plenty to meet demand. Mine was pre-ordered through ToyRUs who have just added a load of new bundles and they invited me to cancel my pre-order and re-order a new bundle. Sounds like they're not shifting many at all.

Extract from the American sales figures for Feb 07

Turning to hardware, the DS headed overall hardware sell-through with an impressive 485,000 units, followed by Nintendo's Wii, which sold 335,000 units despite continued issues with shortages. The Xbox 360 sold through a reasonable, if not spectacular 228,000 copies, and the PlayStation 3 slumped to a disappointing 127,000 units, despite no apparent shortages.

I was out shopping yesterday and was quite surprised to see ALL stores stocking the PS3 with all stores saying PRE-ORDER and guarateed launch day delivery.

It's not that the PS3 won't sell.... I think it's more to do with the time of the year for releasing it.... oh and the £430 price tag!
