Question SCSI drive utilities - anybody got any?

How do

Got a SCSI drive (Seagate Barracuda - OLD one!! ) that needs some convincing to spin up properly - could be that the bearings have started to sieze.

Anybody got some utilities that can perform such a task? PC ideally

Thanks

Dan

Hiya Scooby DO,

Have you tried Seagate's website? I was on there the other day looking for tools for one of my drive (albeit not as old as yours). 2 hours and aone low level format later and jobs a good un!

Trying now

Was just wondering if anybody had one of those "get you out of the ****" utility disks..

My drive keeps clicking as though it's trying to do something - hoping it will be the bearings due to inactivity.....

Just need it operational long enough to transfer about 4Gigs of sample data onto Zip Drive!!

Thanks though

Dan

ultimatebootcd.com might solve the problem (free). Dozens of utils on a bootable CD. Very useful tool to keep in your armoury!

I take it you're SCSI Host controller BIOS has the means to help out there? I remember the old Adaptec 2940 Host adapters has some useful stuff on the BIOS for powering up Hard Drives.

Update - the drive is viewable in disk management (XP) and in SCSI probe (Mac OS9!), unmountable.
Due to it being in a type of MSDOS format (Kurzweil K2000 synthesiser/sampler), I've put it into various SCSI chains (thought it might be the synth SCSI controller).

Pressed "Load" on the keyboard, and whilst the drive spins up, I then get a lovely "chug-chug" sound - fubar'd me thinks

BUgger. Was hoping this wouldn't beat me!!
