explorer.exe 100% cpu usage?
Think I have downloaded a corrupted avi file because now whenever I try to open my video folder it sends cpu uage to 100%. explorer.exe is the culprit, yet I cant get into the folder to delete the offending file as the computer crashes every time any idea how I can get rid of this file? have run norton and spydoctor but neither come up with anything.

Its a known bug with explorer.
Whenever you go into a folder, explorer reads the files to obtain the properties of the file. With a corrupt AVI it hangs explorer and sends it to 100% (as you have).
As has been stated, use DOS and delete the file.

I used to get this in Win 2K when opening the folder containing the offending file
This is how I used to sort it: ...turned off the preview pane in "tools-->folder option--> use classic view--> ok
Find offending file and then delete it, then turn back on the pane by repeating the above.
Might not work in XP (not had the sproblem since), but worth a try if your a bit rusty on the old DOS

yes it is annoying those corrupt p0rn avi files
the above works only if the file is in the root directory & not in a folder that you cant expand. You cant edit them so only can delete in dos.
