Question Lost T'Internet At Home NT Hell Help

Cable Modem + Linksys Wireless Router + Decent spec. Dell PC

I removed the Linksys to eliminate that. I get an external IP address and gateway and I can ping BBC - bbc.co.uk homepage - Home of the BBC on the Internet from a cmd prompt no problem. It won't log into Skype or retrieve my e-mail via Outlook or display a webpage although it says website found...waiting for a reply.

NTL can ping my PC and see my MAC address. I have restarted everything several times and even did a System Restore all without success.

Any ideas?

Get them to check the cable modem details against their DB.

I had it where I could ping and tracert to the net but not actually get out to it, turns out modem details had not been changed in their db after an upgrade......

Possible, but for once I got through to someone who seemed pretty switched on.

I reckon it is a DNS issue somewhere along the line.........

My cable modem has lost synch with their servers. Port 80 is being blocked Arrrgghhhh - I fecking knew it wasn't my PC especially when laptop had same problem.

They told me at 5pm it would take 4 hours to resolve.

At 9.30pm they said it would be another 2 hours. Guess what? It is still down. Not a happy bunny I can tell you.
