It says a lot about the power of marketing, the gullibility of the general public, and the general lack of imagination at the moment both in the people producing the games and the people buying them...

The Getaway is probably one of the worst games I've ever played.
Not suprised GT4 is in there but expected it to be No. 1 really - not many games can cause a console to sell out when its been out for over 4 years.
Halo 2 - another turkey.

The Getaway was great fun. You could make progress through the game, all local (london rather than some anonymous jap or US 'city'), playable etc. Not one of these games where you get past level 1 and 2 then spend weeks on level 3 with 50 levels still to go
Dunno if it registers on the gaming experts radar but it's like a Hot hatch, bit of a laugh, throwaway fun. Hardly gonna attract a hardcore RWD track racer but doesn't mean it won't be fun for the average gamer.
Getaway 2 was a bit pants though, just the same game again set a bit different, a poor sequel, no advancement at all really, still fun enough though.

I agree - time for some different games rather than derivatives of the unimaginative ****e that's currently out. e.g. a space trading game could be cracking IMO - imagine Elite updated and online. We don't need another w4nk football game or driving game with the same tracks but slightly better graphics.
Having said that, love GTA!

I never got beyond the first couple of levels in Halo 2. I got terminally bored with it within a couple of hours or so. Nowhere near as good as the first one imo.
Innovation seems to be largely dead these days. I just hope games like Mass Effect live up to their potential...

Halo 2 - never played it, but one of the game's development team has recently admitted the multi-player game is awful and he won't play it.
The Getaway - played that and thought the interface was horribly broken. It definitely had something to keep you coming back for a while though.
GT4 - the momentum for this franchise is definitely dwindling. People are becoming really bored with each sequel. I recently watched a promo for Forza 2 and was pretty impressed. GameVideos.com - X06: Forza 2 'Damage' trailer HD

Halo 2 is one of the few games I've sat through and completed. It wasn't anything stunning, but not bad for passing a few days. The online play, be it via XBL or Xlink Kai, is what makes it more appealing to me. Nothing like sticking a plasma grenade on some anoying yank whose mouthing off
GTA, bit of mindless violence never hurt, and the storyline is somewhat amusing too.
As for the fotty games, well they would never appeal to me as I dislike football.
Would have liked to have seen PGR/Forza on there though.

You might have the odd GB game thrown in there, Tetris etc, and perhaps the Sims on PC . But it would basically be a list of PS2 games.

Do people really class GOW as a classic?
Been playing it for a week now, and while it is fun, and has some nice touches, its a bit "samey" and so far not very hard.
You walk for a bit, then take cover and shoot some locusts, then you walk a bit more and do the same. It's entertaining, graphically quite good, but its not something I would put down as a classic. It also frustrates with how linear it is - you can't even jump down from a platform to get to the street below, even when there's an opening - it just blocks you. The likes of Splinter Cell are much better for a more open world.
Having said that, i'm only about 5 hours into it now - just got to the bit where you drive a Junker and get killed by Krylls, but can't get past that bit

You've got me wrong. I didnt say it was a classic, but it was a hugely hyped game. Many people say the 1st real reason to buy the 360. When a game receives such huge amounts of advertising quite often it sells very quickly.
From what I have read it did sell very quickly hence my comment on being in the top 10.
For what its worth I agree single player isnt great but play online and it turns into a completely different game!!
