Default XP Display Settings

Evening,
Well I've finally decided to use BootCamp, mainly as I wanted to check out the HL2 demo, and CrossOver wasn't really cutting it.

Anyway, I'm in a dual monitor setup and managed to f-up my display settings to the extent that my main screen (the iMac's Display) looks like it's turned off and the second monitor simply shows the desktop and nothing else.

If I right click and select "Properties" I am not greeted by the usual display settings, so I cannot reset things back.

I thought safe mode might allow me to reset the thing but it does not, though that could simply be a lack on understanding on my part.

What I'd really like to do is to reset the display settings back to their defaults as they were when I installed XP. Is this possible, without having to reinstall/repair XP?

Where does XP store the display settings? I'm guessing it's probably in the registry, if so, where, and could I boot into safe mode, edit the key and then reboot and be back to normal?

thanks in advance for any help

Doing this from memory, but display settings, advanced, extend my desktop onto this monitor?
Have you cranked up the refresh beyond the monitor that's blank limits?

Just a thought.
