Last week, my 360 broke and I refused to pay MS £90 to have it fixed saying I could get half a Wii for that money.

Today, MS ring me back and offer the repair for half price and they'd chuck in a copy of Viva Pinata too.

I only made the Wii comment 4 days ago, do you think they panicked a bit?

I know my argument against the out of warranty clause was that I'd not had 12 months consecutive use from it - it first failed back in July.

The main reason I refused to pay was that they only offer a 30 day warranty after its been repaired - judging by their frequency of failure it felt like I'd be forking out £90 every month...

I totally agree, I think it's quite disgusting they expect you to pay, should be a new replacement at their cost if their hardware is so flaky. I'm hoping mine doesn't go the same way.

Its a mini PC in a box. PC components fail, welcome to modern cheap but not so well built hardware! PS3 isn't fairing that much better either!
