Default Windows IE 7, is it crap?

This morning, wifey clicked on "yes" to install Windows updates to our computer which is running XP, and one of them seems to be Internet Explorer 7. Since it's been in place, EVERY website seems to take longer to load, every time I change to another "thread" it takes longer, and some are just taking an age. It's like having a 56k connection back.

IS it IE7 at fault? If so, can I a) speed it up? or b) get rid and reinstall IE6, which I liked?

TIA, Alcazar

THre is another thread on this very subject futher down this section but think the vast majority off users are more tyhan happy with updating from ie6 to 7, myself found the difference in the speed off browsing to be noticably quicker, the only downside is that I do lose me internet connection more often now- anyone know whey this should happen ??

Turn off the anti-phishing feature - slows it right down!
