Just to expand a bit for you Pete. You will need an ADSL router. This normally replaces the one provided by your ADSL provider. This will allow you to connect a number of devices to the Internet.

Each PC / Mac should be set up with DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) enabled - basically the devices will request an IP address from the new ADSL router.

The ADSL router handles the connection to the Internet. NAT (Network Address Translation) is used because the internal IP addresses used for the PC and Macs will be in a private range (normally something like 192.168.1.xxx) and the external IP address for the connection to the Internet will be a public one and will be assigned by your ISP. The private range must be converted to appear to come from the public address, hence NAT.

After reading your post, I have a Belkin 54g router which I have a Mac and a PC connected too, but iI have done a new deal with BT for the new Home Hub thing and internet phone.
Anyone know if this will do the job. Hope so, if not I'll send the d@mn thing back

Warren

The BT Home Hub is basically a 802.11 G/B WiFi router (prettied up to look like it came from the Apple design studio ), so there shouldn't be a problem connecting your existing wireless devices.

No problem Warren. If I understand it correctly, the Home Hub only has two ethernet ports. BT are pushing these because they are due to introduce IPTV soon and currently the IPTV unit has to be hard wired to your DSL line via a router (your Home Hub).
