Cheers guys. I couldn't work out why my C:\ drive was continuously getting smaller even though I install programs on my D:\ drive and have a seperate drive to store films and music on.

%systemroot% is an environment variable. In Windows XP it would usually equate to C:\WINDOWS.
If you paste %systemroot%/Prefetch into the Start, Run box it should resolve the path for you.
I think the point was that the environment variable was incorrect. %WinDir% would have been another option.

Right well I've deleted everything that was older than todays date from that temp directory (including the folders).
Everything's working fine still
I've looked at that prefetch directory, there's 3.41mb worth of stuff in there but it's all got todays date on it?

What about all the windows update files in the WIndows directory, with folder names such as $NtUninstallKB900725$?
I'm assuming I can zap these as long as I don't plan to uninstal the updates??
