Default network scanning

does anyone know of any software (preferably free) that can be used over the network to distribute scanned documents from a network printer/scanner to network folders?

Some multifunction printers have this as a built in feature, check to see if you can point it to an ftp / cifs / unc target.

What make and model is it?
