Default one for the hackers

Is it possible to emulate the bios id string? I have an app that checks the id before it will boot up and I really want to install it on another pc.

Thanks
D

you're talking about flashing the bios. the bIOs stands for Input/Output, but it's essentially an EEPROM, hence the flashing requirement. note, reading the bios info is quite easy - it's not the same.

No I dont think he is.

Copy protection on some programs means it checks version numbers etc in the BIOS before installing, for example TINY recovery CD's will not run on a PC that does not have a matching BIOS.

IF he flashed a different version onto his BIOS to match the requirments of the software his BIOS wouldnt work.

He needs to crack the software and stop it from checking
