Default Improve Wireless ?

Hiya!

I have a Linksys wireless router and I find it is a very faint signal when I am using my laptop and base PC wirelessly upstairs in the far other corner of the house. I have heard about these external antennas can help but what adapters/access points (is that what they are called ?) can you get that have external aerials sockets and what is the best aerial to go for ?

Would appreciate a good link or two because looking on google it just seems so confusing and Im not sure which online shops are genuine and not rip offs.

Check you have the transmit power turned up, our house is quite big and its ok all over the house even though I have turned it down to 12 % power to stop melting the kids brains.

Have you tried just changing the channel on your router in the settings menu.

I had the same problem with mine last year. I had a good signal eveywhere except the corner of the house.

The default the is channel 6 on most routers anyway. The same channel as you and your neighbours wireless phones, video senders, and anything else that sends a wireless signal.

I changed my router to channel 11, now i get excellent signal everywhere. You can choose differnet channels up to 13, i think.

It might be a cheaper soloution for you.

Hope this helps.
