I can get it into VOB no problem, but I've yet to find something that can covert it into .avi
Will check the 2 you mention.
Surely there's a single app that can both read the DVD and output an .avi ?
Bioforger, just checked DVD Santa - are you sure it can do DVD > AVI cos I know it can do AVI > DVD

Why do u need it in AVI ?
You need a divx encoder really. Not sure what would be best for that.
1Click DVD to DIVX XVID AVI Converter Rip and Convert DVD to DIVX,DVD to XVID,DVD to AVI is an example, just google on it.

I did find a solution which gave excellent results - namely the use of dvdshrink and flash encoder

Thanks druddle, I use Windows and the problem is now solved.
As for the background to this story - a mate asked me to put together small website for his company and he wanted it to look EXACTLY like the brochures. I'm a bit of a novice, so I used Flash, which can dynamically resize the images and video to suit the browser window size.
You can see the final video here. Click on "English" then the "Video" link at the bottom of each page...

NB: Site isn't finished, so French and German sections aren't clickable yet! ;-)
