Question FREE AVG Ending?

I get a pop-up saying that AVG FREE is ending on 15th January 2007.

What alternatives, FREE alternatives, are there?

Free alternatives are the new AVG, if you read the pop up screen properly it does tell you this

its just version 7.1 that is expiring, 7.5 is the new one

when you download it, run the install but choose repair

You need new glasses Pete

I thought the new one was not FREE??

I do need new glasses then

If its just an update - why do they not just update what I have??? I get critical updates all the time?

I think people who already have AVG free are entitled to have theirs updated, but new people wont be able to download a free version of 7.5

i think thats why you have to do a repair and not an upgrade or install as such

Now ive upgraded to Vista it keeps asking me for the 7.5 license key which I dont have

Already got 7.5 seems to scan quicker than 7.1 but could be imagining it.
On the pop up click on the link on the bottom left and it takes you to the download page for 7.5

As said it is available free. Ive been running V7.5 for a couple of weeks now. User interface a bit more polished, seems slightly faster too.

Proby.

The reason I have wealth is because I do NOT spend money if I don't have to MUPPET!

Somehow my HD was wiped a couple of months ago - and I had to re-load AVG (maybe it sees me as a new customer, even though I had AVG for years!?)

As everyone who has read the message properly has said, it's avgs way of forcing a version upgrade on everyone, 'tis still free.
