Default Broken Mac Mouse

The little rollerball thing on my Mac mouse has stopped working - well it will scroll down, but not up - the ball moves up but nothing happens on screen - should/can I take the mouse apart (any point ?) or just get a new one?

Forget that - seems to have fixed itself...

Wink

have the same problem with mine returned it twice to apple for new ones and all did the same. then i decided to try and clean the ball so i used a baby wipe cleaning in all directions and then the same again with a lint free cloth and it works like new again! have to keep doing this every so often and have come to the conclusion that small amounts of dirt/grease from hands are causing it.

hope this helps

Are you talking about the big ball in the bottom as in an older Mac mouse or the little one in the top as in the Mighty Mouse?

If its the older style, take the ball out and look at the three rollers and clean off all the skank and bits of fluff with your fingernail...

I suspect you mean the mighty mouse though...

One that came with my new G5 iMac a few months ago with a little grey ball on the top. Mighty Mouse?

I've had the scroll ball on my mighty mouse stick every now and then, what I do to fix it is to put my finger on the front of the ball and flick it backwards. If that does not work I turn it upside down and give it a little tap.
