Hmm I was waiting for more details on this.
Seems like a good spec to me. Medion usually use all branded stuff inside their machines as well.
Could have more ram and a better gfx card but for £550 it's not too bad!
I'm sure there will be people that'll post saying you could build it for less etc, depends if you want the hassle.

Yeah, need a new PC.

Priorities were it had to be Core 2 Duo, reasonable GFX and with Vista - and as it comes with a free upgrade its tempting. You'd stick another 1GB RAM in straight away though...........

I brought the first medion Aldi sold, still going strong now (gave it to the parents).
Agree with you though, as long as the gfx card is half decent you can always add more ram which isn't that expensive.

Same here - I'm still running the 2.6 P4 they did 3 years ago. I've added RAM, GFX and disk in that time and a new PSU to cope but otherwise still going fine

I'm still on my 3 year old (I think) Athlon 2500 o/c'd to 3200.
Still running fine although I've long since been able to run games on their max settings at anything above 1024x768. Used to be able to run max at 1280x1024 but not with the current crop of games.
Time to pass this one down the family line and upgrade.

Its not bad but look around

eBay.co.uk: Brand New CORE 2 DUO 2.4ghz x 2 Desktop PC (item 220053392616 end time 02-Dec-06 17:59:34 GMT)

Cheaper and better specc'd though you can probably build a decent one for 600 quid, look to places like scan, aria, dabs etc to see what they can offer in computers

True it does have onboard graphics but it also has the conroe core chip and not the allendale one (conroe = better) plus a decent mb and you can upgrade the graphics if you want (they will quote you a price)

Might go down the build it myself route!

If I make a machine with SATA drives, could I still connect up my IDE's?
