Going away for at least a year and want to take all of my beloved music with me, so i can finally justify getting an iPod! The only thing is i dont want to shell out ~£240 for the 80Gb model for there to be a superior video model with WiFi released just after...

I know Apple keep their cards close to their chest but are then any clues to a release date for it???

they normally have a spring Apple expo where Jobs trots out a "and another thing" type release.

Whether there will be a wifi version is anyone guess. The 80gb version is great but you could always argue on waiting as there will always be developments - but at that rate you would never actually do anything.

Fair argument about always waiting for the next one, think the next gen will be a significant jump though, rather than just bigger capacity and slightly tweaked software, bluetooth/wifi and a full touch screen (as some rumours say) would be a big + i think....

no sodding around with an iTrip or whatever...
