Default Win2K Administrator Password

Is there a relatively simple way to acquire the local administrator password from a machine. My Daughter has been given an obsolete computer from her school and I am finding it difficult to install anything or remove anything without this password.

Thanks

seconded for EBCD
google EBCD download the zip file around 17meg

use the makecd.bat in the installed directory, this will create and ISO image

Use the ISO to burn a CD.

Insert the CD in restrt machine and boot fom CD, this will boot up in a linux type interface. follow the guide and reset password.

Thanks V much for those ideas.

Would I lose any data or programs in following either of those methods. The machine has good educational software on it that I would not be able to acquire the discs to re-load.

Thanks again.

No you will not lose any date it will just reset the password for the administrator account to nothing.

you will just need to type in the username administrator and press enter with no password.
