DNS search order
Does anyone know a way to control which DNS servers Windows XP will use when you have multiple interfaces (eg. a wireless interface to Internet and a VPN interface to my office) and different DNS servers registered on each of them (because of DHCP).
I've been seeing problems with stupid ISPs and hotels configuring wildcard entries in their DNS servers. I want to get to a server on my office network, but the DNS request gets sent to the server registered on the wireless interface, which sends back a positive response stopping my PC asking the DNS server on my office network.

Is it a fqdn, if so that will teach you not to use something like .local

It is an FQDN. Not my fault - it's how our facilities group set up the network.
I found the solution earlier today - it searches based on the order of the binding of the TCP/IP stack to the various connections, so a bit of registry editing got them in the right order and fixed the problem.
