I like ie7 better than firefox. The release version of ie7 seems (so far) less buggy than firefox, and I prefer the minimal look

It isn't the "final" release. It's release candidate 1 - There could be an RC2, RC3, RC4 etc etc until they finally ready to ship.
Seems to work ok though - But bear in mind, this is unlikely to be the final version.

It is indeed the final version. If you do a windows update it'll ask if you want to install it.
I've slipped over to IE7 from Firefox as it's much slicker and freer from bugs. The fullscreen mode is fantastic too.
Thumbs up MS.

But thats Betas/RCs for you Iain, its not the final product! But agree FF has kind of declined with each release, typical software development these days 'I know lets add loads of new features that make it look cool that we *think* people want' when of course they increase the number of lines of source code and introduce bugs and degrade performance.

Yep. So far IE7 has been quicker for me than IE6 though, so that was a pleasant surprise. Been playing with some code, and it seems to be doing pretty well on the standards front as well
Firefox just seems to be getting more bloated, and with each new security patch they release for it, seems to run slower.
<friday afternoon pedant mode>
p.s. more lines of code doesn't necessarily mean a program will run slower. It's the internal logic (or lack of) that does that

It's not on update yet. You could go to Microsoft Corporation and click on the huge "Install Internet Explorer 7" advertisement

IT blokey at work said 1 Nov for critical update or download from www.microsoft.com/ie and you need a genuine copy of Windows as it checks before it will install.

Why would anyone want to use that bug filled, ad ridden pile of rubbish. It's got to be one of the worst browsers out there. Getting even vaguely complicated javascript / dhtml to work in it is a nightmare...
