Can you give a few more details? What it's doing / not doing? (Not working can cover a lot )
It sounds like it might be a networking issue? I presume your router is acting as a DHCP server? Is your new PC set to use DHCP or static IP addresses on the hardwired network?
If it's a networking issue it might also help if you go to a command prompt, type ipconfig and then post what's there.

It is unable to ping to the router or anything beyond itself.
It seems to be able to get an IP Address from the DHCP server, and gives the router as the gateway. Manually setting the IP address with the correct gateway doen't help as well.
Like with all these things, it's much easier to do or decribe when you have the interface in front of you.
I suspect it's something to do with MAC address authentication (which was enabled for the wireless clients, even though is a PC connected directly to the router using an ethernet cable) ..... I blame the idiot that installed it!!

Try resetting the router to default factory settings
That usually does the job.
Make sure the lan is set to autodiscover ip and dns.
try using a different net cable might have a dodgy cable.
HTH.

Tried a different cable already.
Basically when the new PC is connected directly to the cable modem (in the STB) it connects to the internet.
Connecting the new PC to the router doesn't work (and that's trying different ports and cables). All the wireless devices are uneffected. The old PC using the same cable on the same port on the router will work!!
Looks like the NIC and the BB router have compatability issues, as both devices work, just not together!!!
Fortunately there is a spare USB wireless dongle, so the PC is connecting via the wireless network, even though it's 3 foot away from the router!!

I have a D-Link router and it is pretty unreliable. It goes through spates of dropping the DSL connection and at the moment refuses to talk to my Xbox 360 despite nothing changing from when I used it at the start of the week.
I do find though that turning it off at the wall and letting it re-boot it normally sorts itself out.
When you say the PC won't work - do you mean it won't boot up if it's connected to the router via the network cable or do you just mean it won't connect to the net through the router?
