Default PCI problem

Guys, having a bit of an issue with one of the office PC's and need some help.

Machine in question has a network card in it. Its connecting to the internet through the network card no probs, so it is working.

I need to connect to another machine on the network, but its not having it, so I go to network neighbourhood and theres no network card showing.

I then have a look at device manager and, once again, no network card.

I've loaded defaults in the BIOS just in case there was a setting somewhere that I'd missed. Still no luck. Card still works but windows says its not there.

Tried 'setup network for small office' but wizard can't start as it says that there's no network hardware.

As a last resort I tried a wireless card in it, which it fails to identify too- its just like its forgotted it has PCI slots.... although they still function.

Any ideas? O/S is XP Pro.

2 Things to try.

1).. Try re-seating the card in another PCI slot

2)..Try re-service packing XP

3).. Checking the Services are running in services, I.e DHCP, etc.. As I have had this with my Cousins PC before now.
