My 360 has died. I can still play 2D games but the moment I power up anything 3D it crashes. No red lights just a complete lockup of the machine. I have owned the 360 since launch day without issue.

MS are picking the machine up tomorrow but as a word of warning once your 1 year warrenty is up thats it you are on your own. If you ring MS 360 support you can purchase a 1 or 2 year extended warranty for £25 / year but you must take the warranty out before your machine is a year old.

With the number of 360's dying it is well worth the £25 cover.

look on Xbox.com forums on this issue. A few guys have contacted trading standards and the likes and got some interesting info back. Looks like any fault that is proven to be a recurring one in a mass produced unit of this type then allows you to claim agains the manufaturer for upto 5 years because of the defect from birth if you like.

We've just got our 360 back from MS (for the THIRD time). They have now sent a brand new unit. So i hope it gets a new 12 month warranty.

The fan is a hell of alot louder than the old one too.

MS picked it up Tuesday and delivered a brand new one on Friday with an extra 1 year warranty. Not to shabby.

I've just had my 4th one returned from Microsoft. It's second hand, and they haven't extended the warranty. Not even an apology
